The Atlanta Commercial Energy Efficiency Ordinance

Mandates that municipal structures exceeding 10,000 square feet and commercial as well as residential properties surpassing 25,000 square feet must annually monitor and disclose their energy consumption to the Atlanta authorities. This initiative commenced its phased introduction in 2014.

Who Needs to Adhere?

Owners or managers of municipal structures surpassing 10,000 square feet, or commercial and residential buildings exceeding 25,000 square feet, are mandated to monitor and disclose their energy consumption in compliance with the city’s stipulated deadlines. Additionally, once every decade, buildings are subjected to an energy audit.

Compliance Deadlines

For commercial and residential structures larger than 25,000 square feet, reports must be submitted by June 1 each year.

Reporting Procedure

Building proprietors are required to furnish their energy consumption data to the EPA’s Portfolio Manager, an online tool facilitating comparisons of energy efficiency among similar structures. Contact F&D Partners to ensure compliance!

Penalties

Fines amount to $1,000.00 per year.
